Vught town centre
The city centre of Vught is undergoing a large transformation: one construction plan is being developed (extending residential buildings and stores) and a second one prepared (renovation of a current shopping mall). Also, the monumental Petrus church has been renovated and turned into a library, tourist office and museum.
“Vught’s city centre is undergoing a transformation”
HOUTMAN+SANDER has been asked to design the restructuring of this public space. The future city centre is supposed to have a timeless, classical look. In this design, part of the city centre has limited access to cars. Pedestrians and cyclists will have more space, but Vught still welcomes motor traffic. For the pavement, a typical local tile will be introduced. The ground level of this main area, Vught’s ‘living room’, continues from one house front to another.
