TIHT Masterplan Taiyuan
The Taiyuan Industrial Heritage Transformation Master Plan (TIHT) is a project for the revitalization of a heritage which aims to position Taiyuan in the cultural landscape of contemporary China. TIHT will transform the plant complex for the production of fertilizers and other heavy industrial plants into an area of cultural and creative significance.
“In the master plan, transformed factory sites and newly built developments go hand in hand combined with a design of a very wide variation in the public space”
HOUTMAN+SANDER, in collaboration with OMA Hong Kong, YRG (durability) and MIC (traffic) developed a master plan for this transformation that will give guidance on the phased transformation of this area. In the master plan, transformed factory sites and newly built developments go hand in hand combined with a design of a very wide variation in the public space. The large square spaces are interrupted by intimate, small spots (a park on the square) and the large lush green structures are interrupted by more urban incidents (a square in the park).
